In an attempt to form a united opposition alliance called INDI (I.N.D.I.A.), Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who played a key role in bringing the entire opposition together, now seems to be distancing himself from it. A meeting of the INDI alliance has been called on December 6th, which has been convened by the National President of the Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, in Delhi. This is the first meeting after the defeat of the Congress in three states, and all eyes are on it. It is being reported that Nitish Kumar will not be attending this meeting, which is quite surprising as he played a crucial role in forming the alliance.
The reason for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s absence from the meeting has not been stated by the JDU party yet. However, JDU leaders have mentioned that Nitish Kumar has been advised by doctors to take rest as he had a viral fever. His health is not in good condition currently, which is why he will not be attending the meeting in Delhi. JDU National President Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh and Water Resources Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha will be attending the meeting. On the other hand, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav will be present from the RJD’s side.
After the Congress’ defeat in the elections in three states on December 3rd, JDU’s reaction came forward. JDU’s senior leader and spokesperson KC Tyagi, during a media interaction, said that these results could have been better. Don’t associate it with the INDI alliance. The INDI alliance was not involved in the elections, only the Congress party was contesting. These areas are considered strongholds of the Congress party. In the previous elections, the Congress formed the government in these three states. Therefore, this is a victory for the BJP and a defeat for the Congress. There is no connection between this and the INDI alliance. The Congress had distanced itself from its component parties before the elections. Now it is clear that the Congress party cannot defeat the BJP on its own.
