Bihar Weather Report: Cold wave intensifies in Bihar with temperatures dropping further. The chilly winds on Saturday shook the entire state, causing shivering and discomfort. The sun remained hidden throughout the day. According to IMD’s forecast, there is a possibility of severe cold wave hitting the entire state for the next two to three days. On Saturday, severe cold day conditions were observed in some parts of Bihar, including Patna, Buxar, and southwestern Bihar. Kishanganj in North Bihar also experienced severe cold conditions, while in South-Central Bihar, the afternoon became even colder. The entire Bihar was engulfed in fog.
Temperature to further drop in North Bihar from tomorrow. According to IMD Patna, the cold wave may intensify further in North Bihar from tomorrow. The cold wind is currently blowing at a speed of 12 to 14 km per hour in South Bihar, and there is a possibility of it gaining more strength in North Bihar on Sunday. Patna recorded a maximum temperature lower than that of Srinagar and Dehradun. The highest temperature in Patna remained 13.8 degrees Celsius, which is the lowest maximum temperature since 2018. On Saturday, Srinagar recorded 15 degrees Celsius and Dehradun recorded 20.30 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Lucknow and Ranchi was also higher than that of Patna. The minimum temperature also recorded the lowest of the season at 7.1 degrees Celsius. It should be noted that this is the third consecutive cold day recorded this season. In 2022, the temperature in Patna on January 20 was the lowest at 6.6 degrees Celsius, and in 2021, it was 3 degrees Celsius on January 31.
More than a dozen children faint due to cold in Bihar schools, teachers also fell unconscious, student loses life. There will be no relief from the cold for the next three days. According to the Meteorological Centre, the state is currently experiencing the flow of chilly and northwesterly winds. On Saturday, there was no sunshine in Patna throughout the day, and dense fog persisted in the morning. As per the forecast, there is no significant change expected in the minimum temperature of the city for the next three days. After three days, there will be a gradual increase in the temperature for the next two days. For the next 48 hours, there are no significant changes expected. There will be no relief from the cold even on Makar Sankranti.

IMD has issued an alert once again, not only for humans but also for taking precautions to protect animals from the cold. Bhagalpur recorded a maximum temperature of 15.6 degrees Celsius, which is five degrees below normal, and the minimum temperature was three degrees below normal. A similar situation was observed in Purnia as well. The maximum temperature in the state ranged from 13.8 to 20.2 degrees Celsius.
Pollution levels rise in Bihar cities. As pollution levels rise, the air quality in 10 cities of the state has once again been categorized as the red zone, meaning very poor. The Air Quality Index in Gandhi Maidan and Samanpura in the capital was recorded at 424 and 405, respectively, which is considered a severe condition as per the air quality index. Rajvanshinagar recorded an AQI of 301, while Danapur recorded an AQI of 362. The AQI in Patna City was 132, and in Tarmandal, it was 233.
