High Stakes in Sasaram Constituency
The traditional Lok Sabha seat of Sasaram, held by veteran Congress leader and former Prime Minister Jagjivan Ram, is witnessing a tough battle this time. The main contest is between BJP’s Shivesh Kumar and Congress’ Manoj Kumar Bharti. This seat is considered to be a safe one for the candidates.
History of Sasaram Elections
In the past two Lok Sabha elections of 2014 and 2019, BJP’s Chhedi Paswan emerged victorious from Sasaram. Prior to that, senior Congress leader Meira Kumar had won in 2004 and 2009. Chhedi Paswan is a seasoned politician who has been elected as MP from Sasaram in 1989, 1991, and in recent years.
Seat Allocation and Results
Under the India Alliance, Sasaram seat was allotted to Congress. Senior leader Meira Kumar has been contesting from here. In the 2019 elections, Chhedi Paswan defeated Meira Kumar by a margin of around 1.66 lakh votes. Similarly, in 2014, Meira Kumar lost to Chhedi Paswan by more than 63,000 votes.
सासाराम लोकसभा चुनाव 2024 के परिणाम में पूर्व उप प्रधानमंत्री जगजीवन राम की परंपरागत सीट पर कांग्रेस के शिवेश कुमार राम और भाजपा के मनोज कुमार भारती के बीच मुकाबला है. इस सीट को लेकर पिछले चुनावों में भाजपा के छेदी पासवान ने जीत हासिल की थी, जबकि इस बार चुनाव बेहद कांटे का है. विधानसभा चुनाव में भी भाजपा ने सिर्फ एक सीट जीती थी, जबकि राजद, कांग्रेस और जदयू ने भी एक-एक सीट जीती थीं।
