Construction of Muktidham in Bihar Panchayats

The government of Bihar has initiated the construction of Muktidham in various panchayats to provide relief to people from the inconvenience and expenses of conducting last rites near rivers like Ganga. The traditional method of cremation not only causes pollution but also poses sanitation issues. Under the 15th Finance Commission, approval has been granted for the construction of Muktidham with two cremation sheds in panchayats, allowing proper cremation rituals to be performed.

Facilities at Muktidham

The Muktidham will be equipped with boundary walls, solar lights, a toilet, and a hand pump for convenience. The total approved amount for the construction of the cremation shed is 11 lakh 98 thousand rupees, with additional expenses for the boundary walls, toilet, and hand pump. The government’s priority is to build Muktidham in panchayats where traditional cremation practices have been followed for years, ensuring that people have access to proper cremation facilities.

Environment-Friendly Cremation Solution

The Department of Panchayati Raj has prepared a plan to establish Muktidham in each panchayat with facilities like electric crematorium, seating area, toilet, and bathing area. The initiative aims to provide a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution for cremation, reducing pollution caused by traditional wood pyres. In the coming days, people will have the option to conduct last rites in an organized and eco-friendly manner at Muktidham.
