Construction of the third railway tunnel between Jamalpur and Ratanpur railway stations on the Bhagalpur-Jamalpur rail section is underway. The proposed third railway line between Bhagalpur and Jamalpur will be facilitated by this tunnel, which will be beneficial for the operation of goods trains. The survey work for this project has mostly been completed by the Ministry of Railways selected agency, Railers. The third railway tunnel construction will commence after the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is finalized.
The third railway line between Jamalpur and Bhagalpur will bring numerous benefits. With the new railway line, the operation of passenger trains will not be delayed due to the movement of freight trains. Currently, only one railway track is used for both passenger and goods trains. The new third railway line is being prepared as a freight corridor, allowing goods trains to operate from both up and down directions. This will also increase revenue for the railway.
The availability of sufficient land for the third railway line has already been confirmed by the railway authorities. The construction of this new line will boost economic activity in the Jamalpur-Bhagalpur region, as loading and unloading operations will increase due to the higher frequency of goods trains. This will also create more employment opportunities at the local level. It is believed that the financial crisis is not an issue for the railway currently, as they aim to complete this project sooner than expected.
Railway’s Deputy Chief Engineer (Construction) Hemant Kumar stated that the construction of the third railway tunnel between Jamalpur and Ratanpur railway stations is in progress. The third railway tunnel will be built for the Bhagalpur-Jamalpur third railway line.
