However, the current case is the opposite of the previous one, as it was the groom who was forced into marriage. It is said that while falling in love may be easy, fulfilling that love is much more difficult. This is the case in Vaishali as well, where a man’s forced marriage took place despite being in a seven-year relationship.
The incident of forced marriage attracted a crowd at the Sangat Temple on Station Road in Mahnar village, Vaishali district. News of the couple’s forced marriage spread throughout the entire area, leading to a large gathering of men and women at the temple to witness the couple. The youth was not placing a garland around his girlfriend’s neck or applying vermilion to her hairline. Instead, women and other people forced him to complete all the rituals.
The seven-year love affair took place between Sangita Kumari, daughter of Shivkaran Ram from Ward No. 11 on the Subzi Mandi Road in Mahnar Nagar Parishad area, and Arun Kumar, son of Surendra Ram from Ward No. 7 in Bajitpur Chakasturi Block. Arun Kumar used to visit his sister’s house in the same neighborhood. It was there that he fell in love with his sister’s sister-in-law.
Sangita Kumar accused her boyfriend of promising marriage but not allowing her family to marry elsewhere. However, when the topic of his own marriage came up, he started refusing. After this, the girl’s relatives filed a complaint against the boy at the police station. When the pressure from the police increased, Arun Kumar went to meet Sangita. After this, the girl’s relatives arranged their marriage.
