Local Criminals with Guns at the Crime Scene
In Bihar, while the law and order situation continues to deteriorate, the opposition is attacking the ruling party. On the other hand, the ruling party is being accused of going soft on criminals. Recent incidents have raised questions about the effectiveness of law enforcement. In a recent case in the Bhagwanpur police station area of Begusarai district, criminals openly fired shots to spread terror. However, the villagers managed to catch two criminals and handed them over to the police after beating them up.
Continuous Harassment of Girls
In the Banouli village of the Bhagwanpur police station area, incidents of harassment of girls by antisocial elements and criminals were on the rise. The villagers gathered for a meeting to discuss this issue, where Ram Pukar Mahato from Banouli was also present. During the meeting, Ram Pukar Mahato strongly opposed the incidents and raised the issue of complaining to the police about the criminals. This led to a group of criminals gathering at the scene and starting firing shots to spread fear. Fortunately, Ram Pukar Mahato managed to escape unharmed.
Villagers Take Matters into Their Own Hands
Upon hearing the gunshots and commotion, dozens of villagers gathered at the scene, causing the criminals to flee. However, the villagers managed to catch Gulshan Kumar from Banouli and Rupesh Kumar from Jhora village in the Vibhutipur police station area of Samastipur district. They beat them up and then handed them over to the police. A pistol and cartridges were recovered from the scene and handed over to the police, raising questions about whether the criminals are no longer afraid of the police.
Police Investigation and Treatment of Criminals
The two arrested criminals and Ram Pukar Mahato are currently undergoing treatment at the local PHC. The police are investigating the entire incident. Due to the perceived failure of the police, the villagers took matters into their own hands to catch the criminals. As a result, mob lynching incidents could have occurred. For now, it can be said that due to the police’s shortcomings, the villagers are forced to take the law into their own hands to catch criminals.
