Underdeveloped Infrastructure
The Cyber Police Station in Darbhanga district has been operating in a small room within the premises of the Laheriasarai Police Station for the past year. The station does not have its own building yet, despite new cases being registered daily. The station was inaugurated on June 10, 2023, and has been functioning in a room that is only 10 to 12 feet long and wide. The room lacks basic facilities like toilets and water supply, making it difficult for the officers to work efficiently.
Shift to Women’s Police Station
The authorities are in the process of shifting the Cyber Police Station to the building of the Women’s Police Station, as the current setup is inadequate. The Cyber Police Station has so far registered a total of 129 cases, with 99 cases in 2023 and 30 cases by May 2024. The station also handles cases related to cyber crimes, with offenders being sent to the district jail for imprisonment.
Lack of Technical Support
Despite the increasing workload, the Cyber Police Station lacks a technical cell and essential equipment. The station is currently staffed by a Cyber DSP, three inspectors, one sub-inspector, and two constables. However, there is a notable absence of computer operators and havildars. The lack of technical facilities and a dedicated technical cell further hinders the station’s ability to effectively tackle cyber crimes.
Need for Improvement
The officers working at the Cyber Police Station have raised concerns about the lack of resources and the challenges they face in handling cyber crime cases. The station relies on technical support from the SSP office and lacks essential tools. The selection of a suitable location for the station and the provision of adequate resources are essential for improving the functioning of the Cyber Police Station in Darbhanga district.
दरभंगा जिला में स्थित साइबर थाना लहेरियासराय थाना परिसर में एक छोटे से कमरे में संचालित हो रहा है। थाने के पास अभी तक अपना भवन नहीं है, जबकि हर रोज मामले दर्ज हो रहे हैं। थाने में हाजत और शौचालय की सुविधा नहीं है, और पानी की सुविधा भी नहीं है। थाना में कमरे में खिड़की भी सड़ी हुई है और कंप्यूटर से लेकर अन्य दस्तावेजों को रखने के लिए पर्याप्त जगह नहीं है। थाने में तकनीकी सुविधा का भी अभाव है और अधिकारियों और कर्मियों की संख्या भी कम है। इसके अलावा थाना के लिए भूमि का चयन भी नहीं हुआ है। जिले के स्थानीय थाना में दर्ज होने वाले साइबर अपराध का मामला भी यहीं भेज दिया जाता है। थाना के कर्मचारियों का कहना है कि साइबर थाना के स्तर से वरीय पदाधिकारियों को संसाधनों और परेशानियों के बारे में अवगत कराया जा चुका है।
