Bihar Government Takes Strict Action Against Illegal Sand Mining

The Bihar government has taken a tough stance on the state’s biggest problem by issuing orders to all district officials to conduct daily inspections and send reports to headquarters every evening. In a high-level meeting held on Thursday, it was decided that daily checks will be carried out to curb the increasing illegal sand mining activities in the state.

Inspections During the Day, Reports in the Evening

According to a statement released by the Information and Public Relations Department of Bihar, district mining officials have been instructed to inspect sand mines in their respective areas and send reports to headquarters on a daily basis. Measures such as installing boards at all sand mines and setting up integrated weighing machines by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) have also been directed to tackle overloading of sand trucks and monitor illegal transportation.

Monitoring Sand Transport Trucks and Ensuring Safety

Officials have been tasked with keeping an eye on sand mining activities, as well as trucks transporting sand to depots and other specified destinations in the state. Those sand mines that have not been auctioned off will also have boards installed to regulate the illegal sand mining completely in the state.
