A tense situation has developed in Harinagar village under the Kusheshwarस्थान police station area in Darbhanga after a massive FIR was filed under the SC-ST Act. The case has been registered against 210 people, including 70 named individuals and around 140 unknown persons. The incident occurred on the night of January 31, 2026, but the matter gained attention on February 4 after the FIR details surfaced. Police officials have stated that the primary reason behind the clash is an old monetary dispute of approximately Rs 2.5 lakh related to house construction work done in 2015.
What is the dispute and who is accused?
The complainant, Asharfi Paswan, has filed the case against the accused, alleging assault and non-payment of dues. The main accused has been identified as Hemant Jha, along with others like Shrinath Jha, Pankaj Jha, and Omprakash Jha. It is alleged that the entire Brahmin community of the village has been made an accused in this case.
According to the reports, the conflict resulted in a physical clash where more than 10 people sustained injuries, including women and a child. The dispute reportedly escalated when the complainant demanded the pending money for the construction work. Following the incident, the local police have detained 12 people for questioning regarding the violence.
Police investigation and current status
DSP Prabhakar Tiwari of Biraul has clarified that the initial investigation suggests this is a civil dispute over money transactions. He stated that the matter is being given a caste color. A major concern raised by the locals is that many people named in the FIR have not been living in the village for years but are still listed as accused.
The police administration has assured the villagers that arrests will not be made without proper evidence. The Station House Officer, Ankit Chaudhary, is looking into the verification of the accused persons’ presence during the incident. Currently, a police force has been deployed in the village to maintain law and order, and the situation is reported to be under control. A video of the incident is also being examined by forensic teams.
