Introduction:
A young man lost his life while participating in a race for home guard recruitment in Palamu. Vikas Tiwari, the eldest son of Manoj Tiwari from Jharna Tola in the city of Redma, was troubled due to his job situation. In his quest for employment, he joined the race being conducted at the police line for home guard recruitment. Unfortunately, Vikas fell down on the running track after covering a short distance. The police officers present at the scene immediately rushed to his aid, but he was pronounced dead upon reaching the Mediniray Medical College Hospital.

Tragic Events Unfold:
Vikas had gotten married just four months ago, and when the news of his death reached his family, chaos ensued at their home. The body was taken to the MMCH for post-mortem examination upon the arrival of relatives. Finally, on Monday, Vikas’s final rites were performed at the Pampu Kal Ghat on the banks of the Koel River. His father performed the last rites and gave him a cremation with full honors. It is believed that Vikas’s death was caused by heart failure during the race.

Home Guard Recruitment:
The recruitment process for home guards has been ongoing in Palamu district for the past two weeks, attracting a large crowd of young individuals. The tragic incident involving Vikas Tiwari’s death has raised concerns and highlighted the risks associated with such races.
