Tejashwi Yadav has challenged the charges framed against him in the IRCTC scam case at the Delhi High Court.

The Delhi High Court has asked the CBI to respond to Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s plea regarding the charges against him in the IRCTC scam. This took place on a Tuesday, with Justice Swarnkant Sharma setting the next hearing date for January 14. On the same day, his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, will also have his similar plea heard.

Earlier, on January 5, the court did not agree to stop the trial while hearing Lalu Prasad Yadav’s petition. Both Tejashwi and Lalu are fighting against the trial court’s decision that charged them with cheating and criminal conspiracy related to the awarding of contracts for two IRCTC hotels.

In total, charges have been framed against Lalu, his wife Rabri Devi, Tejashwi, and 11 others for their involvement in this case. The charges include serious offenses under the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, which highlight the misuse of their positions for personal gain.

The court has specified that charges of fraud under IPC Section 420 will also apply to the accused. This suggests that those involved could face severe consequences, with possible imprisonment for up to ten years under the Prevention of Corruption Act and seven years for fraud.

Looking ahead, the next court session on January 14 will be crucial. The CBI will need to present its response, and both Tejashwi and Lalu’s pleas will be discussed, which could determine the future course of this high-profile case.
