Devotees throng Ganga Ghat in Lakhisarai

On the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, devotees gathered in large numbers at the college Ganga Ghat in Lakhisarai to take a holy dip in the Ganges. The chants of “Jai Gange” echoed throughout the Ghat as devotees immersed themselves in the faith. It is believed that taking a bath in the Ganges on this day washes away all sins, and after the bath, devotees pray for the well-being of their families.

Celebration of Ganga Dussehra

Ganga Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of the Jyeshtha month, according to the Hindu calendar. People offer “Bijoo Aam” and “Batasha” to Mother Ganga to fulfill their desires. It is believed that Mother Ganga descended on Earth on this day, and bathing in the river washes away ten types of sins and brings immense blessings.

Significance of Ganga Snan

Bathing in the Ganges is considered highly auspicious, as it is believed to wash away sins accumulated over millions of lifetimes. Touching or even seeing the Ganges is said to destroy sins, and bathing with a calm mind is known as “Mausal Snan.” The sacred river Ganga holds immense importance in Hindu mythology, and a dip in its waters is believed to bring ten times the merit.

लखीसराय के बड़हिया स्थित कालेज गंगा घाट पर गंगा दशहरा के मौके पर सुबह से हीं स्नान के लिए श्रद्धालु काफी संख्या में पहुंचकर आस्था की डुबकी लगाने में जुटे हैं। गंगा घाट पर श्रद्धालुओं के जय-जय गंगे के जयकार से पूरा गंगा घाट गूंज रहा है। गंगा दशहरा पर बिजू आम और बताशा मां गंगा को चढ़ाकर लोग मनोवांछित फल की प्राप्ति करते हैं। आज ही के दिन मां गंगा पृथ्वी पर आई थी। इस दिन गंगा में स्नान करने से 10 तरह के पाप का नाश होता है।
