Protest against Unfair Treatment

In Nirmali Thana, the executive officer has filed an FIR against 7 sanitation workers from Nirmali Nagar Panchayat in Supaul. This action has led to written complaints from dozens of sanitation workers to the DM of Supaul, demanding intervention in the matter.

Longstanding Grievances

The sanitation workers, including Raja Banjara, Govind Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Rohit Kumar, and Raju Banjara, have been working in Nirmali Nagar Panchayat for the past 12 years. However, they claim that they have not been provided with basic facilities and benefits such as minimum wages, ESI, PF, bonuses, and safety equipment.

Violence and Retaliation

Following the filing of the FIR, the sanitation workers went on an indefinite strike from May 7th. When they protested against the hiring of additional workers and demanded resolution of their issues, they were met with violence. The case has now been registered in Nirmali Thana.

Unresolved Issues

Despite claims by the executive officer that the PF money has been transferred to some workers’ accounts, others allege that server errors have prevented them from receiving their dues. As a result, 45 additional sanitation workers have been hired to maintain cleanliness in Nirmali Nagar Panchayat, while the protesting workers remain off duty.
