Double Benefit with Fish and Duck Farming
Farming ducks along with fish can result in double benefits in the same pond. This can save up to 75% of the expenses on fish feed and about 35% on duck feed. According to the district agricultural officer Vikas Kumar, many youths looking for employment can become providers instead of seekers by engaging in such activities. This not only doubles the profits for the farmers but also contributes to the development of Bihar.
Benefits of Fish and Duck Farming Together
Vikas Kumar explains that duck flocks enter the water together. By creating a small additional pond next to the fish pond and connecting them through bamboo bridges, the ducks can help in the growth of fish by eating algae and maintaining oxygen levels in the pond. This creates a better environment for the fish and their development. Additionally, ducks have a habit of returning to their nests in the evening after feeding and roaming all day. By providing nests for ducks near the pond, they can lay eggs there, reducing production costs. By combining duck and fish farming, double profits can be achieved.

Vikas Kumar mentions that the government also encourages youth for such initiatives by providing loans up to 10 lakhs for such projects. District officers can assist in setting up the project in the district. Project officers have been appointed to help in creating the project on your land without the need for additional consultancy. This initiative can lead to the development of Bihar and provide employment opportunities for the youth.
