State Bureau, Patna:
- JDU Legislative Councilor (MLC) Radhacharan Seth was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on corruption charges.
- ED conducted a 15-hour investigation at Seth’s residences in Patna and Bhojpur before arresting him in Arrah (Bhojpur).
ED to Present Seth in Court Today
- The ED will present JDU MLC Radhacharan Seth in court today at around 11 am for further legal action.
- During the investigation, a diary was recovered from Seth’s office, which is expected to reveal many secrets.
Interrogation and Remand
- After being arrested, Radhacharan Seth was interrogated throughout the night by the ED officials.
- At the special court of ED, officials will demand remand of Seth under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Previous Raids and Investigation
- In February, the Income Tax Department registered a case of tax evasion against Seth and raided his residence.
- On June 6, the ED raided Seth’s locations across the country and recovered cash, property documents, and froze his bank accounts.
- In August, Seth and his son Kanhaiya were interrogated by the local team of the ED, providing important information.
JDU MLC with Past Affiliations
- Ramcharan Seth was previously an MLC from RJD and was close to RJD supremos. After joining JDU, he also became close to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
- Currently, Seth is an MLC from Bhojpur-Buxar for the second time from JDU.
