ED arrests Bhanu Prasad in connection with the Land Scam case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made its second major arrest in the Land Scam case after Hemant Soren. Bhanu Prasad, the former revenue inspector, has been arrested by the ED in the high-profile land scam case. The ED had applied to the special court of PMAL for the production of Bhanu Prasad on January 31st. Bhanu Prasad was produced before the ED on Saturday, and now the ED will apply for his remand in court on Monday. Bhanu Prasad was arrested by the ED in the Land Scam case on April 14, 2023, and several documents were seized during the raid at his residence.
Bhanu Prasad to be the main accused in the Land Scam case
In this case, Bhanu Prasad had revealed that the order for the survey of 8.50 acres of land had come from the CM’s office. The ED had applied for his production in this case before the arrest of Hemant Soren. Bhanu Prasad will be the main accused in this case, while the former CM Hemant Soren will be the second accused. According to media reports, the ED team may question Hemant Soren and Bhanu Prasad face to face. The ED investigation officer has filed an application in the ED court for the remand of Bhanu Prasad.
Further process to begin after court approval
Once approval is granted by the court, the further process will be initiated by the ED. Currently, Hemant Soren will remain in ED custody until February 7th. It is likely that the ED may demand an extension of remand for Hemant Soren. The ED had summoned Hemant Soren for questioning on August 14th after the land scam in the Badgai region of the 8.46-acre area. Bhanu Prasad has been in jail since April 13, 2023, in connection with the land scam involving the army’s possession of land.
