Tragic Incident in Katihar
A senior citizen who had gone to perform Shraddh karma in Katihar drowned in the Kamla river and lost his life. The body was recovered from the river around 15 hours after the incident. The deceased, Ranjit Kumar Mandal (45 years old), had gone to the Kamla river in Madhepura Pranpur area of Katihar to perform Shraddh karma after the death of a person in the Va. Mohalla area of the Nagar Thana region.
Efforts to Recover the Body
People who had reached the site for Shraddh karma made strenuous efforts to recover the body from the river late into Sunday night, but were unsuccessful. After extensive search on Monday, the body was finally recovered from the river and the local police station was informed about the incident. The police arrived at the scene and took the body into custody for post-mortem before sending it to Katihar Sadar Hospital.

The family of the deceased is devastated by the incident. They mentioned that Ranjit Kumar Mandal had been working at the water plant for 45 years.
