The Indian Meteorological Department has issued red alerts for Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Kaimur, Rohtas, and Arwal districts in Bihar due to the scorching heat. Orange alerts have been issued for Banka, Samastipur, Jamui, Gaya, Saran, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jehanabad, Nawada, Nalanda, Siwan, and Vaishali districts.
The Meteorological Department has predicted hot days in some parts of North-West, North-Central, and South-East Bihar. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in parts of Supaul, Araria, and Purnia districts in the next few hours. The highest maximum temperature recorded in the last 24 hours in Bihar was 44.9 degrees Celsius in Aurangabad, while the lowest minimum temperature was 22.5 degrees Celsius in Dehri.
Several districts in Bihar recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, with Patna at 42.2 degrees, Gaya at 44.0 degrees, and Aurangabad at 44.9 degrees Celsius. Some parts of Kishanganj district experienced moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours, while the rest of the state remained dry. The southwest and south-central parts of Bihar experienced the highest maximum temperatures, with Gaya experiencing strong winds for some time.
During the past 24 hours, only Kishanganj district in Bihar saw moderate rainfall with thunderstorms at several places, while the rest of the state remained dry. The weather forecast predicts light rainfall in the North-Eastern parts of Bihar and the possibility of severe heatwaves in the South-Western parts for the next two days. Thunderstorms are expected in the Northern parts of Bihar after two days. Monsoon is yet to arrive in Bihar, with the usual onset date around June 10th.
