Jharkhand Weather Update
In Jharkhand, the intense heatwave continued on Thursday with the maximum temperature in 18 districts exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Due to the heatwave, 14 people have died in different parts of the state, including six in Kolhan, five in Palamu, as well as in Gumla, Giridih, and Khunti. Additionally, four deaths were reported in Saraikela of Kolhan, and one each in East Singhbhum and Ghatshila.
Extreme Heatwave in Palamu and Garhwa
The districts of Palamu and Garhwa experienced severe heatwave conditions for the third consecutive day. Medininagar recorded the highest temperature in the state at 47.4 degrees Celsius, followed by 47.1 degrees in Garhwa and 46.3 degrees in Saraikela. Ranchi also recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees.
Weather Alert and Relief
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heatwave in Jharkhand for the next three days. Strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in the eastern, northern, and southern parts of the state. This could lead to a drop in temperature by up to two degrees. The wind speed is expected to be between 30 to 40 km/h during this period.
Severe Heatwave in Other Districts
Other cities like Gumla, Lohardaga, West Singhbhum, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Chatra, Hazaribagh, Khunti, and Latehar also experienced extreme heatwave conditions with temperatures ranging between 43.0 to 45.0 degrees Celsius. Most districts recorded temperatures seven degrees higher than normal, with Ranchi experiencing a five-degree rise in maximum temperature. The minimum temperature in Ranchi was also at 30 degrees.
