BJP Accepts JD(U) Back for Bihar Power
The Bharatiya Janata Party has accepted the return of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party, Janata Dal United, for power in Bihar. This was necessary for the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. However, the calculation of seat sharing got stuck along with the decision to join the stalwarts of the BJP government. The names of the vacant seats in the Legislative Council have also created a lot of confusion, indicating a calm before the storm.

Experienced leaders of Bihar BJP, like Sushil Kumar Modi, are now in a dilemma as their future remains uncertain. The party is silent about their roles as the Lok Sabha elections approach. The distribution of seats between the parties in the National Democratic Alliance has created uncertainty, leading to a delay in announcing names for the Legislative Council seats.
Three Names Stuck in Doubt for Legislative Council
Although the notification for the Lok Sabha elections has not been issued yet, the dates for elections on 11 seats of the Bihar Legislative Council have been announced. Big names like Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, Mangal Pandey, and Dr. Sanjay Paswan are waiting to see if they will get tickets for the Lok Sabha or have to contest the Legislative Council elections.
Clarity to Come from Cabinet Expansion and Seat Sharing
Sunil Kumar Sinha, the director of the Chanakya Institute of Political Rights and Research, suggests that the immediate expansion of the cabinet in Bihar will reveal the fate of leaders like Shahnawaz Hussain and Mangal Pandey. The announcement of seat sharing among the parties will also confirm whether Hussain will contest from Bhagalpur or JDU’s Gopal Mandal. Once seat sharing is finalized, the BJP aspirants for the seats will also have a clearer picture of their chances. This will determine whether there is peace or turmoil within the BJP.
