Police have arrested a fake officer who posed as the Principal Secretary of the Rural Works Department of the Bihar government and scammed people out of lakhs of rupees. The cunning fraudster had been fooling officials for over four months by pretending to be an officer. He would call the police and ask them to conduct raids, claiming to be an official. The scam was exposed when a victim, named Bilal Ahmed, filed a complaint at the Sahayak Khajanchi police station in Purnia. The arrested fraudster has been identified as Nazir, a resident of West Gharari in Bhagalpur district.
During the raid, the police seized over 30 fake cheques worth more than 35 lakhs, fake arms licenses, a dozen applications for fake arms licenses, dozens of documents related to job scams, four fake seals, and several documents related to the issuance of fake fertilizer licenses. The fraudster had been calling police officers and threatening to conduct raids, even calling the IPS. He would also call several DSPs, COs, SHOs, and drug inspectors to intimidate them. This caused a lot of distress for the officers who would have to return empty-handed after being deceived by the fraudster.
A victim named Bilal Ahmed filed a complaint at the Sahayak Khajanchi police station, stating that he was scammed out of four lakh rupees by a fraudster who promised him a dealership for a company’s food and seed products.
