**Family members rush to hospital after the incident**
In Madhepura, criminals shot and injured the son of a leader of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party (JDU). The incident took place in the Itwa Jivchhapur village in the Gamharia police station area. The injured youth is currently undergoing treatment at the Jananayak Karpoori Thakur Medical College Hospital. After the incident, there was a commotion in the area with a crowd gathering around. Upon receiving information, the police reached the scene and began investigating.
**Returning home while talking on mobile**
It is reported that the incident took place in the Itwa village ward-3 of the Gamharia police station area where the son of the District Vice President of Janata Dal United, Karmalal Mehta, was shot. Family members stated that on Sunday night, Deepak Kumar was returning home while talking on his mobile phone towards the western canal. As he reached near the canal, unknown criminals on two bikes attempted to snatch his mobile phone.
**Shot fired from behind for resisting the theft**
When he resisted the theft attempt, the criminals fired a shot from behind which hit the youth in the thigh and lower back. The gunshot wound left the youth seriously injured. Onlookers rushed to the scene where the injured was admitted to Madhepura Medical College for treatment. The Gamharia police station in-charge Vikas Kumar confirmed that the youth was shot by the criminals and is currently undergoing treatment at the medical college. The police are conducting raids to arrest the criminals.
