Tragic Accident in Palamu District, Jharkhand
An accident occurred late on Saturday night in Medininagar, the district headquarters of Palamu, resulting in the death of one brother and serious injuries to another. The deceased has been identified as Nagendra Ram (35) and the injured as Vijendra Kumar (27). Both are sons of Mahendra Ram, a resident of Singer Khurd Purnadih in the Sardar police station area. Nagendra Ram succumbed to his injuries in the accident, while Vijendra Kumar was referred to a hospital in Ranchi for further treatment after receiving initial medical care at Mediniray Medical College and Hospital.
Details of the Accident
The accident took place around 1:30 am. Nagendra and Vijendra’s younger brother was studying in Patna and had recently come home. He was going back to Patna by the Palamu Express. The two brothers left home at around 12:30 am to drop their younger brother at the Daltonganj Railway Station, which is about five kilometers away from their house. After putting their younger brother on the train, they were returning home on a motorcycle when an unknown vehicle collided with their bike near the Jelhata Chowk in the city. The vehicle fled the scene after the collision.
Police Intervention and Investigation
A police patrolling team found both brothers lying injured on the road during the night. They were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Nagendra succumbed to his injuries during the treatment. After his identification, the police informed the family of the incident at around 3:30 am. Nagendra is survived by his five-year-old son. He used to work in agriculture while staying at home. The postmortem was conducted at the MMCH on Sunday, and the body was handed over to the family. The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. They are also examining the CCTV footage installed in the city to identify the vehicle responsible for the collision.
