Children’s health deteriorates after consuming filaria medicine in Bihar

In Bhagalpur, Bihar, several children from a government school fell ill after consuming filaria medicine. The incident occurred at Madhya Vidyalaya Urdu Bazaar, where children were being given medicine under a government campaign to eradicate filaria. It is alleged that after consuming the medicine, more than half a dozen children’s health deteriorated and they were taken to Maya Ganj Hospital for treatment. The hospital soon became crowded with parents, teachers, and other students. The children experienced discomfort immediately after taking the medicine, with many struggling to breathe and collapsing on the ground. They were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Administration investigates the incident at Bhagalpur school

Following the news of the children’s deteriorating health, an administrative team arrived at the scene. It was reported that two medicines, Albendazole and DEC, were given to all the children under the government campaign. As soon as the information about the children’s worsening condition was received, the administration immediately arranged for the sick children to be transferred to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital in Maya Ganj for treatment. Construction of a new airport in Bhagalpur and the responsibility of finding 475 acres of land assigned to the DM.

Government campaign to eradicate filaria in Bihar

A campaign to eradicate filaria has been conducted from February 10th to 16th. Under this campaign, booths were set up in schools to administer filaria preventive medicine to teachers and students. The District Program Officer for the Prime Minister’s Nutrition Program instructed all the principals and head clerics of government schools in the district to set up booths. The directive also stated that the medicine should be given to the children after lunch. Asha workers and health workers were instructed to coordinate and make the program successful. It should be noted that the medicine was given to the children only after they had received their mid-day meals.

बिहार के भागलपुर में एक सरकारी स्कूल के कई बच्चों की तबीयत फाइलेरिया की दवा खाने से बिगड़ गई है। इस मामले का मुद्दा मध्य विद्यालय उर्दू बाजार का है, जहां सरकारी अभियान के तहत फाइलेरिया उन्मूलन के लिए बच्चों को दवा दी जा रही थी। दवा खाने के बाद कई बच्चों की तबीयत बिगड़ गई और उन्हें इलाज के लिए मायागंज अस्पताल ले जाया गया है। इसके बाद अस्पताल में अभिभावक, शिक्षक और दूसरे छात्रों की भीड़ जमा हो गई है। इस मामले की जांच के लिए प्रशासन की टीम भी मौके पर पहुंची है। यह अभियान 10 से 16 फरवरी तक चल रहा है और बूथ लगाकर बच्चों को दवा दी जा रही है।
