Formation of Mining Police in Bihar
The Bihar government has set a deadline of January 30 for applications to form the Mining Police Force, aimed at curbing illegal sand mining in the state. The formation of the force will prioritize the crackdown on illegal mining of sand, which is a major issue in Bihar. The recruitment process for mining police positions will last for six months, and if successful, the force will be expanded.
Efforts to Curb Illegal Sand Mining in Bihar
Illegal sand mining from majority of the sand ghats in the state is a significant problem. To tackle this issue, the government is planning to establish a Mining Police Force. Although this was initiated last year, the formation of the force was delayed due to various reasons. Bihar Mining Corporation has now invited applications from interested candidates for the Mining Police Force.
Roles and Responsibilities of the Mining Police Force
The Mining Police Force will be formed by retired Assistant Police Inspectors. They will be appointed on a contractual basis, and their monthly remuneration will be deducted from their final pension. According to Bihar Mining Corporation, the maximum age limit for contractual appointments will be 65 years. Reservation rules will be strictly followed in the recruitment process. The Mining Police personnel will have powers and responsibilities similar to other government officers, and their main task will be to conduct raids during illegal sand mining operations and ensure legal actions against the offenders.
बिहार सरकार ने हाइलाइट्सबिहार में अवैध खनन पर रोक लगाने के लिए खनन पुलिस बल का गठन करने का फिर से प्रस्ताव रखा है। इसके लिए सरकार ने 30 जनवरी तक आवेदन मांगे हैं। खनन पुलिस बल के जवानों को सरकार के दूसरे सेवकों की तरह पद के अनुसार सभी शक्तियां प्रदान की जाएंगी। खनन पुलिस का मूल कार्य अवैध बालू खनन के दौरान छापेमारी करना और कानूनी कार्रवाई सुनिश्चित करना होगा। यदि काम संतोषजनक होता है तो इसका विस्तार किया जाएगा।
