Hard work pays off: Kundan Kumar from Gaya, Bihar becomes an officer in the army
Kundan Kumar, a young man from Koshala village in Bodh Gaya block of Gaya district, Bihar, has achieved great success through his hard work. He has been selected as a Lieutenant in the army, bringing fame to the entire district. Kundan comes from a farming family, with his father being a farmer and his mother running a small shop at home. Despite serving the nation since 2005, Kundan’s dream of becoming an officer was fulfilled in November 2023, when he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the passing-out parade at the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.
Journey from a small village to becoming an officer in the army
The journey from a small village in Bihar to becoming an officer in the army was not easy for Kundan. Coming from a humble background, he faced many challenges, especially in his education, as his father being a farmer had limited resources. He completed his matriculation from a government school, and his intermediate from Shakya Muni Inter College in Bodh Gaya. Due to financial constraints at home, further studies seemed difficult for him. That’s when he decided to apply for the Indian Army and was selected.
Continuing education while serving in the army
Even after becoming a soldier in the Indian Army, Kundan continued his education. He completed his graduation from IGNOU in 2016 and then pursued a Master’s degree in History. He also completed a diploma in Communication Engineering while serving in the army. After passing various exams and trainings, Kundan achieved his dream of becoming an officer in January 2023 when he became a Junior Commissioned Officer. He encourages other youth to keep striving for success and never give up.
