Government Schools in Bihar Cancel Enrollment of Over 2 Million Children

In a major development in Bihar, the government has canceled the enrollment of 2,369,980 children from government schools. The majority of these children, a total of 1,909,160, belong to grades 1 to 8, while the remaining 460,820 are from grades 9 to 12. The Bihar Education Department, under the orders of the Additional Chief Secretary, K.K. Pathak, is closely monitoring the attendance of children in government schools to ensure their presence.

Strict Actions Taken Against Absenteeism in Bihar Schools

The names of children who have been absent from school for three consecutive days are being noted, and those who have been absent for 15 consecutive days are having their names struck off. This action is being taken because there is suspicion that many children have enrolled in multiple places and have already taken advantage of government schemes by gaining admission to government schools.

District-wise Enrollment Cancellations in Bihar

In terms of districts, the highest number of enrollments canceled is in East Champaran with 146,434 children, followed by West Champaran with 139,598. In Vaishali district, the names of 134,421 children have been struck off, while in the capital city of Patna, 101,979 enrollments have been canceled. Other districts with significant cancellations include Muzaffarpur with 106,208, Sitamarhi with 90,712, Samastipur with 91,512, and Madhubani with 90,549.
