Hazaribagh: Winter Migratory Birds Arrive at Kevlia Dam

Five species of winter migratory birds have arrived at Kevlia Dam in Kedaru, Hazaribagh. Located approximately 6 kilometers from Dev Chanda Mode on Hazaribagh-Barki Road, Kevlia is a peaceful place away from the city, surrounded by forests, fields, and shrubs. The dam is also home to Red Sindhi cows in Goriya Karma, a short distance away.

Difficulties in Bird Watching Due to Poor Road Conditions

Due to the lack of good roads, tourists are unable to reach the dam to witness the winter migratory birds. However, people often visit Kevlia for picnics and enjoy the natural beauty. The Western Forest Division of Hazaribagh has not conducted a water bird survey of the dam yet, and there is no documentation on the winter migratory birds that visit the area.

List of Water Birds Started by Bird Watchers

Amit Jain, a bird watcher from Hazaribagh along with his colleagues, has started listing water birds. According to Amit, it is not possible to accurately estimate the number of birds with just one survey. After two or three visits, a list of water birds and winter migratory birds that visit the dam will be prepared.

Enjoying the Natural Beauty

Despite the challenges in reaching the dam, visitors still enjoy the natural beauty of Kevlia Dam and its surroundings. The peaceful location, surrounded by forests and fields, provides an ideal setting for picnics and relaxation.
