Dengue Alert in Sitamarhi District
The Health Department in Sitamarhi district is currently on high alert due to a disease outbreak. The department is preparing to combat this disease before the monsoon arrives to prevent its spread. Dengue has been a major concern, leading the health department to mark areas with stagnant water for fogging to control mosquito breeding.
Preventive Measures and Preparedness
District officials have taken steps to prepare for dengue prevention, including setting up dedicated wards in hospitals and conducting free dengue tests. Residents are advised to wear protective clothing, use mosquito repellents, and avoid stagnant water accumulation. Only tests conducted in government hospitals are considered accurate for diagnosing dengue.
Community Awareness and Safety Tips
It is crucial to prevent water stagnation in and around homes to curb mosquito breeding. Private lab tests for dengue may not be reliable, so it is recommended to rely on government hospital tests. Last year, the district reported around 62 dengue cases, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and preventive measures to combat the disease effectively.
