Health Department issues advisory in Jharkhand
The Health Department in Jharkhand has issued an advisory to all districts for protection against severe heat amidst the ongoing heavy rainfall in the state. National Health Mission, Jharkhand’s Campaign Director Alok Trivedi has alerted all district civil surgeons following the directions of the Central Government.
Instructions for heat stroke patients
The instructions include timely identification and treatment arrangements for potential heat stroke patients in district hospitals. Dedicated beds for heat stroke patients, rapid response teams at district and block levels, and provision of ice packs, cold water, coolers, ORS packets, and anti-diarrheal drugs in dedicated heat stroke rooms have been directed.
Arrangements in hospitals and community health centers
Arrangements for outer clinics for patients at risk (children under five, pregnant women, and elderly), provision of cool water, cool air, ORS, and seating facilities in hospitals, and daily reports from all district hospitals for continuous monitoring of heat-related illnesses have been mandated. Coordination for referrals to higher facilities after adequate treatment is also emphasized.
Weather conditions in Ranchi
Ranchi, along with other parts of Jharkhand, is expected to experience strong winds and thunderstorms with the possibility of rain on Wednesday. Wind speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour are expected in the state, with an orange alert issued for possible lightning strikes. Heavy rainfall has been reported in various parts of the state in the past 24 hours, with Ramgarh recording the highest rainfall of 38.2 mm.
