Jharkhand Weather Forecast
The month of June has become lethal in Jharkhand. Palamu, Garhwa, Saraikela, and East-West Singhbhum are under a red alert for heatwave for the next two days. Meanwhile, an orange and yellow alert for heatwave has been issued in areas like Latehar, Chatra, and Ranchi. However, from June 17 onwards, the weather is expected to change with a possibility of light rain, providing relief from the intense heat. The western parts of the country are experiencing a heatwave due to a hot air mass moving in.
Rising Temperatures in Jharkhand
Once again, the temperature in Palamu has reached 45.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Due to the severe heat, another person died in Ramgarh, Palamu. The temperature is also rising in Kolhan districts with Garhwa at 45.3, Saraikela at 44.1, Jamshedpur at 44.0, and Ramgarh at 43.7 degrees Celsius. Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius. The temperature in 12 districts of the state was above 42 degrees Celsius, keeping the heatwave alert in place.
Updates on Rainfall
Meanwhile, the temperatures in Jamtara, Pakur, Sahibganj, and Simdega have remained below 40 degrees Celsius. The heatwave situation has been created due to a hot air mass moving in from the western parts of the country. This change in wind direction is expected to bring about a change in the weather. There is a possibility of rainfall with gusty winds in parts of southern Jharkhand, including Ranchi, over the next two days.
Power Cuts Amid Scorching Heat
Amidst sweltering heat in Ranchi and across the state, power cuts have added to the woes. The power cuts were caused by issues like overload and local faults in transformers. This led to people waiting for hours for electricity. In Ranchi, several neighborhoods faced power cuts ranging from one to two hours under each feeder. Even after receiving full load power in Ranchi, issues with overload and transformer fuses persist. The Ranchi Electricity Board has instructed all power distribution centers to provide uninterrupted supply and not to take unauthorized shutdowns.
