Heatwave Alert in Jharkhand

The weather department has issued a heatwave alert in Jharkhand for the next 24 hours. Areas in the northern, western, and southeastern parts of the state are under the red alert zone. Cities like Garhwa, Palamu, and Saraikela have recorded temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours. Relief from the scorching heat is not expected in the coming days.

Possibility of Rain in Jharkhand

There is a possibility of rain in the northeastern, central, and southern parts of Jharkhand. The monsoon is expected to arrive in the state through the Bay of Bengal route on June 16th. This could bring relief from the heatwave as several cities are likely to experience rainfall. Cloud cover is expected across the state post June 16th, leading to a drop in temperatures.

Effects of Heatwave

Due to the intense heat in Palamu, water was sprayed from a tractor to provide some relief. While some areas experienced light rainfall accompanied by thunder, the impact of the heatwave is still prevalent in most parts of the state. The highest temperature recorded was 45.6 degrees Celsius in Daltonganj, while the lowest was 26.7 degrees Celsius in Giridih.

Temperature Variations in Different Regions

Regions like Sahibganj, Pakur, and Jamtara have seen a slight decrease in temperatures. However, most parts of Jharkhand are still dealing with temperatures exceeding 42 degrees Celsius. Cities like Bokaro, Chatra, Garhwa, Godda, Saraikela, and others are experiencing extreme heat conditions. Despite some areas receiving rainfall, the western Singhbhum district continues to face sweltering temperatures.
