Extreme Heatwave Grips Jharkhand

The scorching heatwave in Jharkhand has intensified, affecting the residents across the state. Apart from Pakur and Sahebganj districts, 22 districts are also reeling under severe heatwave conditions with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Sarai Kela recorded the highest temperature in the past 24 hours at 45.9 degrees Celsius.

Relief Expected After 19th June

The Meteorological Department predicts that the monsoon may arrive in Jharkhand after 19th June, providing relief from the ongoing heatwave. Ranchi has been experiencing temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius or higher for the past week, with record highs on consecutive days. Palamu recorded a temperature of 45 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.

Anticipated Weather Forecast

According to the weather forecast, several districts in Jharkhand are likely to experience thunderstorms, moderate rainfall, and strong winds. The maximum temperature in Ranchi is expected to drop to around 36 degrees Celsius from 17th June onwards. This change in weather conditions is expected to provide relief to the residents from the intense heatwave.

Possible Thunderstorms and Lightning

The regions of Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Latehar, Kodarma, Lohardaga, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, and Saraikela-Kharsawan have been warned of severe heatwave conditions. Thunderstorms, strong winds, and the possibility of lightning strikes have also been forecasted. Wind speeds may reach up to 30-40 kilometers per hour in some areas of the state.
