Heatwave Grips Bihar

In several parts of Bihar, the heatwave is causing discomfort to the residents. The number of patients admitted to hospitals due to heatstroke is increasing. Red alerts have been issued in some areas of Buxar, Aurangabad, Kaimur, and Rohtas districts on Friday due to the scorching heatwave. The weather department has issued an orange alert for nine districts including Bhojpur, Arwal, Gaya, Saran, Jehanabad, Navada, Nalanda, Siwan, and Vaishali, indicating a possibility of a heatwave in these areas.

Intense Heatwave Conditions

In the past 24 hours, the maximum temperature recorded in Bihar was 47.2 degrees Celsius in Buxar. Several other districts like Gaya, Bhojpur, Vaishali, Aurangabad, and others have also experienced extreme heatwave conditions. The weather department has forecasted light to moderate rainfall in some areas of Araria, Kishanganj, Supaul, Purnia, Madhubani, and Katihar districts on Friday. The intense heatwave has made Buxar the hottest district in Bihar.

Record-breaking Temperatures

During the past 24 hours, several districts in Bihar recorded temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Patna recorded 41.8 degrees, Gaya 45.7 degrees, and Buxar recorded a scorching 47.2 degrees Celsius. The heatwave has affected various districts, with residents facing extreme discomfort due to the rising temperatures. Some areas in eastern Bihar are expecting rainfall in the coming days.

Dry Weather and Rising Temperatures

The dry northwesterly winds blowing in southern Bihar since June 7 have contributed to the intense heatwave conditions. These winds clear the atmosphere, allowing the sun to shine brightly on the earth. This, in turn, leads to a rapid increase in temperatures. While the northern parts of Bihar have experienced dry weather, southern Bihar has been reeling under scorching heat during the day and warm nights, causing discomfort to the residents. The weather department has predicted the possibility of rain in a few places in eastern Bihar.
