Heatwave Grips Bihar

The ongoing heatwave in Bihar has broken all previous records, leaving people in distress. The weather department has issued alerts for severe heatwave conditions in certain parts of the state. Orange alerts have been issued for southwestern and southern central regions, while yellow alerts have been issued for northwestern and southeastern parts. Yellow alerts have also been issued for a couple of locations in southwestern Patna due to the possibility of a hot night.

Electricity Department Appeals for Cooperation

The electricity supply is facing disruptions due to increasing overload caused by the weather and heatwave conditions. The department has urged people to avoid using multiple devices simultaneously to prevent power outages. They have recommended running water pumps, presses, washing machines, and other heavy loads only from 5 am to 11 am, keeping refrigerators off from 6 pm to 11 pm, and avoiding continuous use of ACs from 6 pm to 11 pm.

Temperature Soaring in Bihar

The weather department has reported maximum temperatures ranging from 46 to 48 degrees Celsius in districts like Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhabua, Aurangabad, and Arwal. Other districts like Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, and Jehanabad are witnessing temperatures between 44 to 46 degrees Celsius. The weather has been dry over the past 24 hours, with most areas experiencing temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius.

Precautionary Measures Advised

With dry westerly winds blowing in southern Bihar, the skies are expected to remain clear, intensifying the impact of the sun. The maximum temperatures in Bihar are likely to remain high over the next few days. The situation will be particularly severe in southwestern and southern central parts, with the possibility of thunderstorms and rain in certain areas. People are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the extreme heat.
