Heatwave Grips Jharkhand
In Jharkhand, the scorching heat has made life difficult for people. After Daltonganj, Garhwa also recorded a temperature of 48 degrees. Palamu reached 47.8 degrees, while Giridih and Saraikela reached 45.9 degrees. The heatwave has also claimed the lives of 4 people. The mercury has crossed 40 degrees in 19 districts of the state. According to the weather department, relief from the heat is not expected in the state until June 2nd. It is believed that the temperatures may rise further in the coming days.
IMD Warning and Precautions
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a severe heatwave warning for the next two days. People have been advised not to step out of their homes for essential work between 11 am and 4 pm. Visuals from Ranchi show people using umbrellas to shield themselves from the intense sun. People are also consuming fruits and juices to beat the heat in Palamu, where temperatures have soared close to 48 degrees.
High-Risk Zones
Three districts in Jharkhand ★Garhwa, Palamu, and Chatra are at the highest risk of heatwave conditions. The western, southern, and adjoining central parts of the state are also under threat. While alerts have not been issued in certain areas like Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Pakur, and Sahibganj, the impact of the heatwave is expected to be severe on May 31st in the north-western parts of the state. Cloud cover and strong winds may provide some relief in the north-eastern and southern regions.
No Relief in Sight
The weather department has not predicted any relief from the heatwave in Jharkhand until June 2nd. The state will remain on alert until then. While the scorching heat continues to trouble the state, the highest temperature was recorded in Daltonganj, and the lowest in Chaibasa at 28.2 degrees Celsius. Some parts of the state have witnessed rainfall in the last 24 hours, with the highest recorded in Deoghar at 1.0 mm. Unfortunately, the heatwave has claimed the lives of four individuals in different regions of Jharkhand.
झारखंड में गर्मी ने लोगों को परेशान किया है, जिससे दलीतोंगंज और गढ़वा में भी तापमान 48 डिग्री तक पहुंच गया। इसके अलावा पलामू, गिरिडीह और सरायकेला में भी बहुत अधिक गर्मी महसूस की जा रही है। गर्मी से 4 लोगों की मौत हो गई है और 19 जिलों में तापमान 40 से अधिक हो गया है। मौसम विभाग के अनुसार, गर्मी से राहत नहीं मिलने की संभावना है और राज्य भर में ऑरेंज अलर्ट जारी किया गया है। भारतीय मौसम विभाग ने भी गंभीर हीटवेव की चेतावनी दी है और घर से बाहर जाने की सलाह दी है।
