Bihar Weather Update

The monsoon season has started in Bihar as a low-pressure area has formed over the Ganges region of West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand. This will enhance the monsoon activity in Bihar, with the possibility of active monsoon conditions prevailing for a week. The entire state is expected to experience continuous rainfall.

Heavy Rainfall Forecast

Over the next two days, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the southern parts of the state and adjacent districts. Wind speeds of 30 to 40 km/h are also predicted, with the possibility of thunderstorms in some areas. The IMD has advised caution in all these weather conditions.

Red Alerts Issued

The IMD has issued red alerts for Begusarai, Munger, and Banka districts due to the forecast of extremely heavy rainfall. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued for other districts like Samastipur, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Jamui, and Lakhisarai. The rest of the districts may experience heavy rainfall.

Water Level Warning

The IMD has warned of rising water levels in rivers like Kosi, Mahananda, Punpun, and Son in southern Bihar. This could lead to flooding, affecting transportation and electricity services. The recent strong winds and rainfall have provided relief from the heat in the state.
