Hemant Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, has not provided any date for his questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding his involvement in a land scam case. The ED had recently sent him a seventh summons, requesting him to inform the agency within two days of receiving the summons about when and where he can be questioned. This questioning was to take place under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Section 50. However, even after the deadline had passed, Soren did not communicate with the agency.
In the seventh summons, the ED had instructed Soren to provide a date and place within seven days from the time of the summons, where he can be questioned. Additionally, the agency mentioned in their letter that they had conducted a raid at the residence of a revenue inspector named Bhano Pratap Prasad, where a large number of documents were seized. The investigation into this case is currently ongoing.
It is worth noting that the land scam case involves allegations of irregularities in the allocation of land and the granting of mining leases during Soren’s tenure as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The ED’s summons to Soren is part of their investigation into this matter. However, Soren has not yet responded to the agency’s request for his questioning.
