Hemant Soren Receives New Summons in ED Case
Former Chief Minister of the state, Hemant Soren, has been issued a new summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for not complying with the court’s orders regarding the case against him. The court has directed him to appear on April 3.
Previous Complaint Filed Against Hemant Soren
Chief Secretary K.K. Mishra had taken note of the complaint filed in March and as a result, a summons was issued to Hemant Soren. The complaint was filed by the ED on February 19 under section 174 of the IPC and section 63 of the PMLA Act.
Investigation into Alleged Land Scam
ED had sent seven summons to Hemant Soren, who did not appear, leading to a case being filed against him. He is currently in jail in connection with the alleged land scam. The agency had sent him a summons for questioning on August 14, 2023, which he did not comply with.
ED’s Ongoing Investigation
After skipping seven summons, Hemant Soren finally appeared for questioning on January 20. However, after initial questioning, the agency requested for another round of questioning. Following his arrest on January 31, he has been in judicial custody as the investigation continues.
