Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, has reportedly suggested making Lalu Yadav the convenor of the India Alliance during a meeting. This proposal came after some parties in the India Alliance had suggested making Lalu Yadav the coordinator. In response, Nitish Kumar said, “If that’s the case, then make Lalu ji the convenor.” The meeting also discussed other proposals, including Nitish Kumar’s rejection of becoming the coordinator of the India Alliance.
During the India Alliance meeting, it was revealed that after Nitish Kumar rejected the proposal to become the coordinator, some parties suggested Lalu Prasad Yadav’s name and proposed making him the coordinator. In response, CM Nitish Kumar said, “If that’s the case, then make Lalu ji the convenor.” Lalu Yadav attended the India Alliance meeting along with his son and Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav. Former JDU President Lalan Singh and Bihar Minister Sanjay Jha were also present at the meeting with Nitish Kumar.
After the India Alliance meeting, Sanjay Jha revealed that Nitish Kumar was proposed as the convenor, but he rejected the proposal for now. Nitish Kumar urged for a quick decision on seat-sharing, stating that he does not have any desire for any position and wants a decision on seat-sharing among the component parties of the India Alliance as the Lok Sabha elections are approaching soon.
It is reported that during the meeting, MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, proposed Nitish Kumar’s name for the convenor position on behalf of the Congress, which Nitish Kumar declined. The discussion also took place regarding the post of the chairperson of the India Alliance, but no decision was taken on that matter. Nitish Kumar has stated that he has no aspiration for any position. It is also worth mentioning that prominent leaders like Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, and Uddhav Thackeray did not attend the meeting.
