Bihar: Another case of forced marriage in Bhagalpur

Another case of Pakadua Vivah has come to light in Bihar, where a home guard jawan was kidnapped and forced into marriage in Bhagalpur district. The kidnapped jawan, Sumit Kumar, was abducted on Monday morning near Navada. The incident has been reported to the Navagachiya police station, where three suspects have been named and are under investigation.

Sumit was returning from his uncle’s house

Sumit Kumar had gone to his uncle Gautam Yadav’s house in Jagatpur with his cousin Prabhash Kumar on a bike to collect money owed to them. On their way back, they were stopped by Gopal Yadav and his daughter, who kidnapped Sumit using a Scorpio. Sumit and his cousin were also physically assaulted during the incident.

Forced marriage conducted in a temple

Sumit Yadav was forcefully married in a temple in Purnia district. His family members reported the incident to the police in Navagachiya, leading to the registration of a case and the identification of four suspects, including Rohit Kumar Yadav, Bhili Kumar, and Ashwini Kumar. Sumit was rescued from Kadwa Road and taken to a hospital in Navagachiya for medical examination.

Investigation ongoing

Sumit Kumar, a trained home guard jawan, sustained multiple injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the case to ensure justice is served. The incident sheds light on the prevalence of forced marriages in Bihar and the need for stricter enforcement of laws to protect individuals from such crimes.
