What’s inside:
This article talks about train route changes by Indian Railways that caused confusion and inconvenience to passengers.
Passengers traveling on important routes faced issues due to a mix-up between Danapur and Howrah railway divisions. Recently, the East Central Railway changed the routes of two major trains without informing anyone in advance, leading to a lot of confusion and complaints.
On December 27, the Amritsar-Howrah Mail and on December 28, the Rajendra Nagar-Howrah Superfast were supposed to run via the usual route through Patna, Gaya, Dhanbad, and Asansol. However, the Danapur Railway Division unexpectedly redirected both trains through Kiul, Bhagalpur, Gumani, and Bardhaman instead.
This sudden change caused a lot of trouble for passengers who were waiting at stations on the original route. Many were left confused and frustrated, especially those who were unaware of the new routing. The Integrated Coaching Management System (ICMS) reflected these changes, but senior officials had no prior knowledge, which added to the chaos.
Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the Howrah Division’s DRM raised concerns on social media. He stated that the changes made by the Danapur division were not in line with the existing communication protocols and caused unnecessary trouble for the travelers.
The DRM has urged the East Central Railway authorities to coordinate better in the future to avoid such incidents. He emphasized the need for a consistent approach to train routing, ensuring that passengers receive accurate information and that train operations run smoothly.
Summary:
- Passengers faced issues due to sudden train route changes.
- Two major trains were redirected without notice.
- Confusion arose as ICMS updates were not communicated.
- Howrah DRM raised concerns on social media.
- Call for better coordination among railway divisions was made.
