Illegal Meat Trade in the City

The illegal meat trade is flourishing in the city, with operators earning lakhs by running slaughterhouses without registration. This illegal practice has also sparked outrage among animal lovers, who often complain to the municipal administration about the issue.

Appeal for Closure of Illegal Slaughterhouses

Bharatiya Janata Party minister Ankur Gupta has submitted a memorandum to the municipal commissioner, demanding the immediate closure of illegal slaughterhouses. He has also raised questions about the open sale of meat to the public, especially when some slaughterhouses have valid licenses while others operate illegally.

Unregistered Slaughterhouses Operating

More than 50 illegal slaughterhouses are operating in areas like Urdu Bazaar, Rajatoli, Yusufganj, Karamganj, and other neighborhoods without registration. These places openly sell meat amidst unhygienic conditions, posing a risk to public health as there is no health inspection of the animals.

Action Against Illegal Practices

Darbhanga Municipal Commissioner Kumar Gaurav has acknowledged the issue and assured that strict action will be taken to shut down the illegally operated slaughterhouses. The authorities are taking the matter seriously to prevent any health hazards and maintain public safety.
