Improper Waste Disposal in Sabour
In the fields of Bhagalpur/Sabour, garbage is being dumped with toxic waste. Sometimes waste from the city is thrown into the fields. Officials from the municipal council try to convince people to dump their waste properly in designated areas. However, some people are being lured with the promise that their land will increase in value if they don’t have to pay for waste disposal. This greed has led to many fields being filled with garbage, but no one seems to be concerned about the consequences.
Municipal Council’s Compulsion
The municipal council is also in a difficult position regarding waste disposal. There is no designated area for waste dumping and no system for waste processing. Despite the formation of the municipal council in February 2021, no concrete steps have been taken towards waste management. Even though elections have been held and officials appointed, the issue of waste disposal remains unresolved.
Disregard for NGT Orders
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) issued an order in March 2019 regarding solid waste management by municipal bodies. Despite this order, the municipal council has not taken the issue seriously. The lack of action in this regard is concerning, as it poses a threat to the environment and public health.
Current Waste Disposal System in Sabour
In Sabour, waste is collected from ten wards using tractors and trailers, with around 40 to 52 sanitation workers involved in waste collection daily. However, without proper processing, waste disposal poses a significant risk to the environment and public health. Open dumping of waste can lead to pollution, fires, and spread of diseases, highlighting the urgent need for proper waste management in the area.
भागलपुर/सबौर में खेतों को कूड़े के जहर से सींचा जा रहा है, जिससे यहां के निवासियों को भविष्य में खतरा है। नगर पंचायत की मजबूरी और अज्ञानता के चलते कूड़ा फेंकने के लिए ठोस कचरे की प्रसंस्करण की व्यवस्था नहीं की गई है, जिससे लोगों के स्वास्थ्य पर भारी प्रभाव पड़ सकता है। एनजीटी के आदेश का भी ख्याल नहीं रखा जा रहा है और सबौर नगर पंचायत में कूड़ा उठाने और फेंकने की व्यवस्था के लिए कोई सही उपाय नहीं निकाला जा रहा है। इससे यहां के निवासियों को आने वाले समय में बड़ी मुश्किलों का सामना करना पड़ सकता है।
