Income Tax Department has started digging at the residence of Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu after finding a treasure of 351 crore rupees. It is reported that the department is now searching under the ground for ornaments. The search at Sahu’s properties is scheduled for Wednesday. During the investigation on Tuesday, officers were given biscuits made of gold.
According to a media report, the Income Tax Department suspects that Sahu might have hidden an even bigger treasure. As a result, preparations are underway for action at his residence on Radio Road in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. Officials have already started searching the house. Machines are also being used to locate the ornaments underground.
On Monday, Income Tax Department found 40 gold biscuits, gold jewelry, and important documents from three lockers of a private bank in Balangir. It was informed by officials that a raid was conducted on the locker of liquor businessman Sanjay Sahu on Monday. This came three days after 80 million rupees were recovered from his house.
On December 6th, the Income Tax Department conducted searches at properties linked to Sahu. During the operation, 351 crore rupees were recovered from 176 bags. This is considered to be the biggest operation in the history of the country in terms of cash recovery. More than 100 income tax officers and over 40 machines were involved in counting the cash.
Not only that, it was reported that several machines were damaged during the counting, which were later replaced. The Bharatiya Janata Party has heavily criticized the Congress regarding this issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also made a sarcastic comment about it on microblogging platform ‘X’. Meanwhile, the Congress seems to be distancing itself from this matter for now.
