Increasing Dependence on Groundwater in Bihar

According to the Central Ground Water Board’s report, groundwater depletion in Bihar has increased in just two years. The report by PHED reveals that the number of structures for groundwater recharge, such as check dams and ponds, is continuously decreasing due to excessive extraction and encroachment, leading to a decrease in water recharge capacity and groundwater levels.
