Indian Army Agniveer Bharti 2024: Youth aspiring to become Agniveer in the Indian Army should be aware of its eligibility criteria. Before participating in the Agniveer recruitment rallies in 2024, the youth should know about the age limit. Last year, the army revised the maximum age limit to 21 years. Previously, the maximum age limit to become an Agniveer in the army was 23 years.
The changes in the age limit for Agniveer will be applicable to all positions of constables. The minimum age limit is 17 years and six months. Army officials have stated that this will ensure that candidates have at least four to five opportunities to participate in the rallies during the eligibility period. Last year, the Ministry of Defence announced a two-year relaxation in the maximum age limit, as no army recruitment rallies were conducted due to the Covid-19 pandemic since 2019.
There was a change in the age limit for Agniveer. According to media reports, Deputy Director General of the Pune region of the recruitment area had stated, “The relaxation in the maximum age was introduced to accommodate those individuals who could not be a part of the recruitment rallies during the two pandemic years. But now, the age has been revised to ensure a young, strong, and technologically inclined force capable of dealing with contemporary circumstances.”
The Army Agniveer recruitment is the second largest in the country in terms of vacancies, after Uttar Pradesh (17%) region, with approximately 15% vacancies, which conducts recruitment rallies in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. It is reported that around 600,000 candidates appeared for the Agniveer rallies in this region in 2022. Out of these, 20,000 qualified for the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) and 6,000 were selected in the army.
This year, candidates will appear for the online CEE, after which they will have to undergo a medical test before the physical fitness test in the recruitment rallies and final selection.
