Under the Pre Final Year University Scheme, permanent commission jobs are offered, allowing students pursuing engineering degrees to apply even in their third year. Job vacancies for engineering graduates in the Indian Army are primarily in the fields of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Computer Science/Computer Technology/Information Technology/MSc Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication/Telecommunication/Electronics and Communication/Satellite Communication/Metallurgical/Electronics and Instrumentation/Microelectronics and Microweb. Therefore, if you pursue admission in BE or B.Tech in these subjects after 12th grade, you can easily secure a job in the army. Out of the 30 vacancies mentioned in the notification, only 7 were for Civil engineering graduates.
Age and height requirements for applying under the Pre Final Year University Scheme have been set. The minimum age for candidates is 18 years, while the maximum age is 24 years. Additionally, candidates must have a height of at least 157.5 cm. Candidates from North East and hill stations are given a height relaxation of 5 cm.
The selection process for Indian Army jobs under the Pre Final Year University Scheme involves sending applications to the Application Command Headquarters, followed by a pre-screening test. Shortlisted candidates then undergo interviews conducted by a team from the Command Headquarters. The interviews take place at the Army’s selection centers in Allahabad, Bhopal, Bangalore, and Kapurthala. After selection, candidates are initially given the rank of Lieutenant, and based on experience, their rank increases. During this time, candidates receive a salary of approximately 70,000 rupees per month, along with medical facilities.
