In Bihar, as the assembly elections approach, the local administration is ramping up security. A surprise raid took place late Tuesday night at the Mandal Jail complex in Nalanda District, led by District Magistrate Kundan Kumar and Superintendent of Police Bharat Soni.
The operation lasted around two hours, during which officials searched all 24 wards of the jail, including the hospital and women’s room. The DM and SP interacted with prisoners and checked areas like beds and cupboards. Thankfully, no illegal items were found, which is a good sign for jail management.
Many officials were involved in the raid, including the Sub-Divisional Officer, Additional Superintendent of Police, and over a hundred police personnel. The coordinated effort aimed to prevent any criminal activities and send a message that strict law enforcement will be in place during the election period.
After the raid, DM Kundan Kumar also visited the Foreign Women Temporary Containment Center within the jail, where six Bangladeshi women are being held. He checked on their living conditions, food, and medical care, urging officials to speed up their deportation process.
DM Kundan Kumar stated that security measures are being intensified at key locations in the district due to the upcoming elections. Meanwhile, SP Bharat Soni mentioned that such surprise inspections will continue to control any unwanted activities effectively.
